Alice thinks she is actually invisible. A tiny German Shorthaired Pointer isn’t usually quiet. But in this video from @runningwithsam, she is proving the “huntress” label is real. She is creeping across the floor in Colorado Springs like stalking a gazelle. Every muscle is tensed. Her target? Big brother Bert. He’s just sitting on his bed. He sees her coming. We all see her coming. But she is committed. The tension is high. The potential for a legendary dog pounce is even higher.

Dog misses the mark when it comes to pouncing in funny video

Bert, however, knows exactly what is up. He is six years old and has seen these antics before. He stays on his bed, watching her slow, calculated steps. He even wiggles his tail a bit. “Bert knew what was up!” a commenter noted. He’s basically humoring her at this point. Alice freezes. She takes another calculated step. She is inches away. Her brain says pounce, but her body says “I’m just a baby.”

And so, the grand finale turns out to be a total flop. Instead of a powerful leap, she just kind of breaks character. She does a play bow instead. And then she just starts jumping around like a caffeinated spring. It is adorable, but zero per cent effective as a hunt.

As her owner, Aimee, put it in the caption, it was a “10/10 for the slow walk” but a “2/10” for the effort. She’s definitely done better in the past. But today, the coordination just wasn’t there. Bert’s face is just priceless for a dog. He was expecting a hit. Instead, he just got a fumbling puppy.

The “I Just Can’t Wait to Be King” music playing in the video makes it even funnier. It really highlights the “main character” energy Alice is trying to project. One viewer loved seeing how they use their genetics in the house. Stalking is what she was born for. Bert is such a good sport for not moving. Alice will get him next time. Or she’ll just fall over again. Either way, the video of this dog pouncing will be worth watching.
